Le Comptoir de la Folie: Merging Fashion and Interior

Le Comptoir de la Folie, loosely translated, means the counter of madness. Here are some things I'm crazy about...

My eyes are always drawn to flashes of colour. In this case, you may say fuschia, hot pink and/or (to designers out there) Hollywood cerise, but please don't ever follow it with a Pepto-Bismol comment. There's something really sexy about this colour when used in moderation - a hint here and a pop there - et voilĂ  !

Take this room, for instance. A curvy, Venetian chaise, a natural-dyed Oriental rug, and Moroccan pouffe - all in shades of reddish and purplish pink - bring drama to the rather stark white walls and dark floors of this New York apartment. Scattered throughout, black and metallic accents break the harshness to provide a warm and elegant flow to the room.

The really great thing about this is, you can totally apply design principles for your home into your wardrobe, as below. A little pop of pink cardigan, subdued beneath a rich Italian wool coat, with black and metallic accessories to boot!

See, dressing up your room and yourself can be fun, no matter where you are!
